Logline:

Struggling with crippling injuries, Tom, a discharged soldier faces a stark choice, stop an international incident from happening, rescue a kidnapped child or get even with the CIA spook who caused his injuries?

Series Concept:

Tom Yelich, a crippled returned soldier, fights with his inner demons (PTSD, depression) and outer demons (ex-CIA handler, an officious and racist Station manager and the Public Health System) in order to regain a life of meaning and service.

By chance, Tom sees Kendrick (CIA) in Wellington which sets off a chain of events that establishes a covert team to uncover what Kendrick is up to and to discover the identity of a ‘Mole’ within the NZSIS. We learn that Wellington has become the hub of the new Cold War in the Indo-Pacific, with the world’s intelligence agencies playing a new deadly ‘Great Game’.

With this backdrop, a young Afghan refugee is kidnapped from the streets of Wellington and Tom and his friends are asked to help find him, before ‘The Colonel’ (backed by the CIA) can use the young boy to start a race war and leverage a populist Minister to snatch power from a dithering Prime Minister struggling to maintain his grip on a fractious coalition.

The series traces the arc of Tom’s growth with support from an unlikely group of misfits that grow into an extended whanau.
